About...

Joe Riley

Joe Riley is arts editor, columnist and leader writer for the Liverpool ECHO. The Life of Riley is a wry look at existence - local, national and international (and occasionally into outer space) - as seen by the UK's senior serving arts critic and the ECHO's longest-serving journalist.

Funny Ha Ha

I have just been to the unique annual civic luncheon given to honour Liverpool's comedians.
Ken Dodd was, as usual, the chief guest of honour, calling for a plaque to honour the comics of old, including Robb Wilton, Arthur Askey and Ted Ray.

And why not? The city is already over-run with plaques to dead (and half-dead) pop stars and political dinosaurs.
Best joke of the day: Doddy's line: "Next time I see Gordon Brown in a new suit, I'll think "I bought that!"

Hi. I wonder if you could help. I finished my art degree last year and have since been doing a fine art fellowship at Wirral Met. I am working towards a show to be held at the Williamson in Birkenhead. Would you be able to put me into contact with anybody that would be able to assist with sponsorship or funding. Also I would really love to show some of my work. Could you give me any advice about this. Hoping you can help.
Regards
Nicky
