There's flu'. flu and FLU

Posted by Joe Riley on February 20, 2007 9:00 AM |

yes, yes, we all know the familiar cry: I've been off with flu. When, of course, it isn't flu at all, but a mere cold virus.

Well, on this occasion, I have been off with FLU. The completley zonking type that makes limbs feel like lead weights suddenly transformed into the bars of an electric fire; back pain; headache, chest infection; sinus; coughing and so tired, you could sleep for England.
Every time I got up last week to go back to work, I returned to bed.And slept again! By Friday, I felt I had been off for a month.
Despite all the talk of bird flu, there are several thousand other strains always doing the rounds. For the record, I have only had FLU three times - once as a child, once in 1969 (Hong Kong variety) and now.
So next year, definitely a flu jab. No messing around thinking myself immune to such bugs.
And if you haven;t been 'got' yet by this year's nasty little strain, beware. And do something about it.
